SUMMARY:EMPOWER External Advisors Meeting
DESCRIPTION:The External Advisory Committee (EAC) is comprised of five scientists with a range of professional experiences related to the research themes of EMPOWER. The advisors are from the following industries: energy\, advocacy\, government research\, environmental consulting\, and educational programming to serve underrepresented students in STEM. The EAC provides guidance for programming to ensure high-level performance of EMPOWER graduates in the workplace. \nThe EAC will be visiting Syracuse University on Thursday\, Oct. 5. During their visit\, the EAC will be hearing about EMPOWER’s accomplishments to date. EMPOWER trainees will be sharing their experiences through a series of panel presentations and Q&A. The EMPOWER faculty will also be having conversations with the members of the EAC to ensure that our program is adequately preparing our students for their chosen career pathways. And\, the students will have the opportunity to meet individually with the EAC members to learn more about their jobs and their career pathways.  \nLunch will be at Phoebe’s at noon. EMPOWER faculty and trainees are welcome to attend! If you are interested in going to lunch\, please contact Deanna McCay (dhmccay@syr.edu). \nEMPOWER will also be hosting a series of roundtable discussions with the EAC members. The roundtable discussions will start at 2:30 pm in Suite 333\, Heroy Geology Lab. If you would like the opportunity to meet with one or more of the EAC members during this time\, please contact Deanna.  \nA reception with the EAC will be held in Suite 333 Heroy Geology Lab at 5 pm. All trainees and faculty are welcome.  \n  \n
