Dr. DeSilva seminar speaker in chemistry

Amila DeSilva will be giving a presentation, entitled They’re Everywhere: Perfluorinated Substances in Freshwater Ecosystems, in the Chemistry Department Colloquia series. Dr. DeSilva is Research Scientist at the Canada Centre for Inland Waters in Burlington, Ontario, Perfluorinated substances are produced for their highly surface active properties and are very extensively used in a wide range of applications. Chris Junium, Assistant Professor in the Earth Sciences Department at Syracuse University and EMPOWER Faculty Member, will be a guest lecturer in the Water-Energy Seminar. Prof. Junium, a stable isotope and organic geochemist who focuses on global climate change through geological time, will be discussing his research entitled "Oceanic Anoxic Events in the Geologic Past.” This event is part of the Water-Energy Seminar.
